Key takeaways

  • Ripple's next escrow release involves one billion XRP
  • Recent monthly unlocks saw 70% returned to escrow
  • XRP struggles near $1.30 ahead of November event

XRP is approaching another major supply event as Ripple prepares for its November 1 escrow release, potentially making one billion tokens available while the cryptocurrency struggles to recover above $1.40.

At approximately $1.30 per token on October 25, the scheduled release carries a notional value of $1.3 billion. However, that does not mean Ripple intends to sell the entire amount or that $1.3 billion in additional XRP will immediately enter exchanges.

Ripple's November 1 Unlock Could Release $1.3 Billion in XRP

According to the XRP escrow tracker, one billion XRP across two Ripple-owned escrow objects is scheduled to become releasable on November 1 at 00:00 UTC.

The tracker identifies approximately 31.4 billion XRP still held in Ripple-controlled escrow accounts as of October 25.

Ripple originally established its escrow system in December 2017, locking 55 billion XRP into contracts designed to make the company's token distribution more predictable.

As explained in Ripple's original disclosure, the mechanism allows up to one billion XRP to become available monthly, with unused tokens returned to new escrow contracts.

That distinction has been central to previous Ripple unlocks, which regularly generate large transaction headlines without necessarily producing equivalent selling activity.

Recent records provide useful context.

On October 1, Ripple released one billion XRP before placing 700 million back into escrow, leaving a net reduction of 300 million XRP in its locked balance.

The same pattern occurred in September, and on-chain tracking indicates Ripple re-escrowed approximately 70% of its monthly releases over the preceding 12 months.

At current prices, the historical 300 million XRP net figure would represent approximately $390 million, but even that amount should not be mistaken for confirmed exchange sales.

Why XRP Price Remains Under Pressure Below $1.40

XRP traded around $1.30 on October 25 after failing to maintain its recovery toward $1.40 earlier in the week.

Historical market data shows the token reached approximately $1.40 on October 21 before retreating to around $1.30 by October 24.

The cryptocurrency's weakness comes as investors monitor exchange balances, institutional demand and Ripple's remaining supply commitments.

Previous XRP ownership analysis highlighted the company's significant holdings, while a separate escrow breakdown examined why the locked balance continues to decline.

A routine escrow event does not create new XRP. The cryptocurrency's entire original supply was generated at launch, meaning these releases change the availability of existing tokens rather than increasing the maximum supply.

Could the November Unlock Push XRP Below $1.25?

A sustained decline below $1.25 would weaken XRP's near-term technical outlook, potentially bringing the psychological $1.20 level into focus.

Conversely, a recovery above $1.37–$1.40 could improve market sentiment and open the possibility of a move toward $1.50.

Neither outcome follows automatically from Ripple's escrow schedule, which has been publicly known for years.

Investors are also watching the October 27–29 Swell conference, where Ripple will discuss institutional payments, tokenization and blockchain infrastructure with major financial firms.

Coinpaper's Swell preview outlines participation from BNY, ICE, TD Securities and Robinhood.

Meanwhile, Ripple's expanding RLUSD financing business demonstrates how its broader operations continue developing despite XRP's price weakness.

The XRP Ledger also faces a separate November 4 upgrade milestone, subject to continued validator approval.
