XRP has achieved a milestone that long eluded many cryptocurrencies: the introduction of regulated US spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs) capable of drawing in substantial institutional capital.
ETF inflows and market impact
According to the latest data from market analytics provider SoSoValue, US spot XRP ETFs have accumulated total historical net inflows of about $1.71 billion. As of September 17, these funds held roughly $1.39 billion in net assets, with ETF holdings representing around 1.7% of XRP’s overall market capitalization tracked by the platform.
During the most recent trading session, the funds experienced net outflows totaling approximately $5.15 million. Despite this, the cumulative inflow figure remains largely intact compared to the scale of total investments.
XRP itself is currently trading near $1.33. When measured against CoinCodex’s recorded all time high of $3.65, this leaves the cryptocurrency still about 64% below its peak value.

ETF inflows appear to be fueling genuine demand for XRP, but that demand is weighed against continued selling pressure and ongoing market flows throughout the cryptocurrency sector. Analysts indicate that ETF-driven buying does not exist in isolation and often competes with selling from existing holders, trading liquidity on exchanges, and positioning in derivatives markets.
ETF growth and competitive flows
Recent research shows that ETF holdings now exceed one billion XRP tokens. Notably, earlier this month, capital continued to flow into XRP funds even as spot ETFs for Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana all recorded net outflows, highlighting the sector’s shifting investor preferences.
XRP, a leading large-cap crypto asset, remains among the most liquid digital tokens, allowing ETF purchases to compete with alternative market activities. This continued tug-of-war between buyers and sellers has left the price under pressure, despite strong fund inflows.
After the US Senate failed to advance the CLARITY Act with a 49–50 procedural vote—short of the required 60 votes—XRP’s price fell almost 10% on September 15, dropping from around $1.42 to $1.28. At the time, ETF funds still held approximately 1.1 billion tokens, underscoring that ETF demand persisted even during the selloff.
Despite these inflows, ETF accumulation was not sufficient to offset a wave of short-term macro, regulatory, and speculative selling that dominated trading following the Senate decision.
According to technical analysts, XRP’s recent momentum has weakened significantly. Its two-week relative strength index (RSI) reportedly reached a 13-year low. The token has continued to test long-term support levels near $1.30, a trend explored in recent XRP RSI analysis.
For the price to close its substantial gap to the all time high, experts suggest that sustained institutional investment must be matched by improved sentiment across the crypto sector and sufficient spot market buying to overcome the prevailing sell-side liquidity.
ETF-driven accumulation continues to grow, but the broader market has yet to reflect this institutional demand. Even as Wall Street gains greater access to XRP, price action lags behind the rising levels of fund inflows.
Outlook for institutional demand and XRP price
If ETF inflows persist while the trading price remains near $1.30, the gap between institutional accumulation and spot valuation could widen further. However, if XRP eventually rallies alongside continued ETF investment, market prices may begin to align more closely with institutional buying trends.
