Key takeaways

  • XRP whale deposits reach seven-month high of 1.669 billion
  • Large holders increase Binance transfers amid price weakness
  • Rising exchange inflows raise potential selling pressure concerns

XRP whales transferred approximately 1.669 billion tokens to Binance over the past 30 days, pushing large-holder exchange inflows to their highest level in seven months as the cryptocurrency struggled near $1.30.

According to CryptoQuant analyst Arab Chain, the cumulative inflow metric surpassed September's previous peak of approximately 1.65 billion XRP, signaling renewed activity among large holders.

At a reference price of $1.33, the transferred tokens were worth approximately $2.22 billion. However, the figure represents cumulative deposits over 30 days rather than confirmed sales.

XRP Whale Inflows to Binance Reach Seven-Month High

CryptoQuant's whale inflow indicator measures the volume of XRP transferred from large wallets into Binance across a rolling 30-day period.

The metric reached approximately 1.65 billion tokens in September before declining. It subsequently recovered to 1.669 billion in mid-October, exceeding the previous reading by approximately 19 million XRP.

The increase follows a period of changing whale behavior. Earlier in October, whale dominance across exchange withdrawals declined 27% in eight days after large holders accounted for 82% of outgoing transfers.

However, the earlier indicator measured withdrawals, while the latest CryptoQuant data tracks deposits. The two metrics describe different activities and should not be interpreted as identical buying or selling signals.

The renewed activity is particularly significant because exchange deposits can increase the amount of cryptocurrency available for immediate trading.

Nevertheless, large transfers do not necessarily indicate that holders intend to liquidate their positions.

Can $2.2 Billion in XRP Transfers Trigger Selling Pressure?

Large cryptocurrency holders frequently use centralized exchanges to execute trades, manage collateral and rebalance portfolios.

Consequently, rising deposits may increase potential selling pressure, especially when market liquidity is limited. However, transfers alone cannot establish whether XRP has actually been sold.

The latest activity also coincides with an increase in exchange reserves.

Between October 12 and 15, tracked exchange wallets accumulated another 83.94 million XRP, bringing their combined holdings to approximately 22.06 billion tokens.

Binance accounted for a substantial portion of the increase, with its tracked reserves rising by approximately 54.61 million XRP during the seven days ending October 15.

These figures measure different periods and activities. CryptoQuant's 1.669 billion XRP represents cumulative whale deposits to Binance, while the reserve figures describe net changes in balances across tracked exchange wallets.

The distinction matters because withdrawals can offset deposits, meaning the full 1.669 billion XRP did not necessarily remain available on Binance.

XRP Price Prediction: Can Buyers Absorb Whale Supply?

The seven-month-high inflow reading emerged as XRP traded near $1.31, increasing concerns that additional exchange supply could weigh on an already weakened market.

Institutional investment demand has also become less consistent. Recent XRP ETF outflows coincided with withdrawals from Ethereum and Solana funds, although the reported XRP totals differed between trackers.

Earlier, XRP investment products had maintained a 13-week inflow streak, showing that institutional fund demand and short-term price performance do not always move together.

If large Binance deposits translate into sustained spot selling, XRP could face additional downside pressure. Conversely, slowing inflows and stronger buying activity would weaken the bearish interpretation.

For now, the data confirms renewed activity among major holders rather than a coordinated selloff. Exchange netflows, spot trading volumes and actual price movements remain essential for determining whether the latest transfers will influence XRP's next direction.
