Cardano ($ADA) generated $3,079 in transaction fee revenue on October 20, the Layer-1 blockchain's highest daily total in seven days. The figure points to a short-term pickup in activity, but it remains small next to its largest rivals.

What drove the uptick

Data tracked by @chainspect_app links the increase to a rise in transactions executed through Cardano's eUTXO (extended unspent transaction output) execution model. Under that design, funds sit in separate output boxes, and a single transaction can spend several of them at once, allowing one transaction to pay multiple recipients or trigger several smart contract actions together.

The latest daily figure follows a busy stretch for the network. Cardano recorded 1,780,896 transactions during Epoch 660, which ran from October 6 to 11, according to TokenPost. That total topped the previous high of 1,566,974 set in November 2021, Digital Today reported. Fees in the epoch reached 337,720 ADA, according to AD HOC NEWS.

Higher activity has not translated into price strength. TokenPost noted that daily active addresses fell from 27,248 to 15,977 over the same period, a sign that transaction counts do not necessarily reflect a larger user base.

Still behind top Layer-1 rivals

In revenue terms, $ADA sits well down the rankings. Cardano has recorded under $150K in fee revenue over the past 30 days, a fraction of what the largest chains earn. Chainspect's one-day comparison pages show the gap: in one snapshot, Cardano's on-chain revenue was $2.965K against $668.9K for Solana. Chainspect's comparison with TRON showed a similar pattern, with Cardano at $1.079K against $959.3K.

Those snapshots are point-in-time readings and shift daily. They do show that Cardano's fee base is thin relative to chains with heavier trading, stablecoin and application activity.

For now, the October 20 reading is a modest rebound rather than a change in trend. Whether Cardano can turn higher transaction counts into sustained fee income will depend on whether the recent activity holds once short-term drivers fade.
