Saudi Arabia is implementing the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and telemedicine to improve its health sector and also to make the country’s healthcare more accessible, particularly in faraway areas.

This initiative is the country’s vision to improve itself in the healthcare sector by the year 2030. In 2024, the country’s digital health market was worth $3.2 billion. By 2031, it’s expected to grow to $13.3 billion. They’re spending money on AI to help diagnose diseases and improve healthcare delivery.

In Saudi Arabia, programs like the Seha Virtual Hospital use artificial intelligence (AI) to help doctors diagnose illnesses and talk to patients in real-time through video calls. Another initiative, Nala, uses AI along with wearable devices to give personalized health advice and care.

There are also telemedicine apps like Babylon Health and Cura that make healthcare easier to access. These apps use AI to check symptoms, let people talk to doctors remotely, and even send digital prescriptions, so patients can get help without visiting a clinic.

As per reports, Saudi Arabia intends to improve its healthcare with new technologies in the future by implementing new AI technologies that includes:

  • Wearables: Devices like smartwatches that track health information, such as heart rate or sleep patterns.
  • Predictive modeling: Using AI to predict health problems before they happen, like warning someone about a possible illness.
  • AI-assisted diagnostics: AI tools that help doctors figure out what’s wrong with a patient more accurately and quickly.

To make these advancements work, the country is investing in powerful computers and technology systems to support them. This growth is possible because almost everyone in Saudi Arabia (93%) has a smartphone, which makes it easy to use telemedicine.

Other Gulf countries, like Qatar and Kuwait, are also doing similar things with their governments. They are teaming up with private companies to improve their technologies for healthcare.

Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 plan is moving toward more digital healthcare. The nation wants to improve its healthcare, economy, and tech leadership.
