ApeCoin DAO, the organization behind ApeCoin, is considering the unique idea of developing a Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) hotel in Bangkok. Proposed by the member of the DAO under the pseudonym DeSmart on July 19, the proposal is to revamp an existing hotel into a lively place inspired by BAYC.
The renovation plan is to introduce the BAYC theme into the hotel with BAYC-themed rooms, an ApeCoin bar, and a swimming pool. For the elaborate plan, DeSmart is seeking $356,000 in ApeCoin tokens to finance the project. In the proposal details, it is stated that these aesthetic improvements would not only add value to the hotel but also provide multiple advantages to the ApeCoin token holders.
Benefits for ApeCoin Holders
Another interesting feature of the proposal is the offer to give 50 nights of accommodation to ApeCoin holders, with each of them receiving one night of free accommodation. DeSmart stresses that this would increase the “visibility and usefulness of ApeCoin” and bring in “real money” to the ApeCoin DAO. For the free night, the ApeCoin member must provide membership in the ApeCoin forum, have more than 1 APE balance, and share the experience in the themed hotel on X.
As per the proposal, fifty percent of the income earned from the APE-themed rooms will be reinvested into the ApeCoin DAO for one year after the refurbishment of the rooms. Also, the hotel will be integrated to allow the use of ApeCoin as a mode of payment for its services, which will help in the circulation of the currency and its adoption in real-life situations.
Support and Future Plans
DeSmart has already performed the onsite inspection and obtained the ‘intention of cooperation’ with a hotel in Khlong San, Bangkok. The hotel management has shown great enthusiasm and willingness to support the project, which means that the implementation team will have no problem in the course of the project implementation.
The proposal has received a lot of support within the DAO community with 90% of the members voting in favor of the project at the time of writing this paper. The voting on the proposal is expected to end on the 1st of August.
The rooftop bar and the swimming pool are among the most costly aspects of the proposed renovations, with a combined budget of 100,000 APE tokens, equivalent to $87,000 at current prices. These features are expected to be major attractions, enhancing the overall guest experience.
This proposal follows a successful initiative by the ApeCoin community earlier this year. On April 3, the community gave unanimous support to a proposal to establish ".APE" as a new top-level domain. This proposal was submitted to the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the global organization responsible for managing IP addresses and domain names.
