The crypto market witnessed an exceptional surge in Bitcoin scaling tokens and BRC-20 coins on February 26, outshining the general market trend and even Bitcoin’s performance. Tokens associated with the Bitcoin Layer-2 network, including Stacks and RSK Infrastructure Framework (RIF), registered significant double-digit percentage gains.

Stacks Achieves Notable Growth

Stacks, a smart contract platform built upon Bitcoin, experienced a notable 30% rise in its value, soaring from a daily low of $2.44 to an impressive $3.21 on February 27. This surge nearly doubled its price within a month and brought it close to its record peak. The platform’s success is partly attributed to a dramatic increase in social engagement, as reported by analytics firm LunarCrush, which monitored a 16,000% rise in social interactions, reflecting heightened interest in Bitcoin’s Layer-2 solutions.

RIF Token and Bitcoin Ecosystem’s Value Locked

The RIF token, integral to the RSK Infrastructure Framework, also saw a significant 25% increase in its value before a minor correction. RSK Infrastructure Framework establishes a smart contract layer on the Bitcoin blockchain enabling decentralized applications while preserving Bitcoin’s fundamental characteristics. Additionally, DefiLlama reported that Rootstock possesses just over half of the total value locked within all Bitcoin sidechains, underscoring the growing financial interest in Bitcoin’s extended ecosystem.

Other Bitcoin scaling and smart contract-oriented tokens likewise recorded robust performance. The MAP Protocol’s native token, MAP, saw an early 16% value boost in trading on February 27. Similarly, BRC-20 tokens, including Multibit (MUBI) and OriginTrail (TRAC), demonstrated prominent gains of at least 20% within the same timeframe.

As these tokens surged, Bitcoin itself reached a high of $56,700, the highest since December 2021, before a slight pullback. These trends point to an increasing investor enthusiasm for projects expanding Bitcoin’s capabilities.
