The Web3 gaming world moved fast last week, with momentum building around airdrop speculation, onchain ecosystem launches, and a U.S. court ruling that could reshape how blockchain games function on mobile.
Here’s what happened.
Somnia is emerging as a major player in the fully onchain gaming space. The EVM-compatible chain now supports high-throughput games like Chunked, a voxel sandbox running 50–60 transactions per second. Its quest system incentivizes testnet interaction across wallets, gameplay, and platform features.
While no token airdrop has been confirmed, comments from the team suggest rewards for early users are likely. Other titles in development include Maelstrom, Dark Table, and QRusader.
Netherak Demons, a dark fantasy action RPG that recently joined Somnia’s Dream Catalyst accelerator. It isdeveloped by an independent team and backed by Web3 publisher Uprising Labs, the game will launch on PC with plans to expand to consoles. It blends tactical battles with blacksmithing, exploration, and resource conquest.
The game is expected to release soon, we have yet to see any gameplay but this teaser sets a nice tone.
The Ronin-based MMO Cambria wrapped up its second season with over $1.5 million in ETH distributed across players, guild leaders, creators, and investors. Nearly one million transactions occurred across Ronin and Abstract, and the game’s “Paymaster” mechanic helped drive growth in user engagement and coordination.
A U.S. court ruled against Apple in its legal battle with Epic Games, stating that Apple can no longer block third-party payment links or charge fees on external purchases. For Web3 game developers, this marks a potential shift—enabling in-app crypto payments and external wallets without risking App Store violations.
Games like WAGMI Defense, which already utilize off-platform payments, are expected to benefit immediately.
