Devcon 7 (DC7) is on its second day in Bangkok. There are three events on my agenda today. The first stop will at the Thailand Web3 conference. From there it will be hopping over to an Aptos and Movement Hack’n’Hang event.

To finish the day, I will visit ArbiVerse Bangkok. This will be all about Arbitrum. So, let’s see what Devcon 7 has to offer today.

Thailand Web3 Conference

The Thailand Web3 conference is a two-day event. Today I went to pick up my registration and visit the first panel of the day. It started at 10 am and the crypto world in Bangkok was still vast asleep. There was a plethora of after-parties last night.

Nonetheless, the show must go on and so did the panels. After the keynote, presented by the founders of Symmetry, the first panel started. The title was ‘Interoperability in the world of ALTVM Rollups’. Pim Swart of Maven 11, and Hyperlane joined the panel.

The discussion covered topics that there are too many barriers in EVM and SVM (Solana Virtual Machine) for onboarding. Currently, EVM and SVM are the leading VMs. There’s a need for more VMs. However, adoption will take time. From here I was off to the Aptos event. Tomorrow I will be back for more of the Thailand Web3 conference.

Aptos and Movement Hack’n’Hang

So, the next stop today was at the Aptos and Movement Hack’n’Hang event. This was mostly for networking on my behalf since the event is all about coding. There was a big crowd of builders who enjoyed the talks. For me, they were too technical.

The whole day is set up with more talks on coding and how to integrate the Move language into various apps. From here it was on to the ArbiVerse. This is the Arbitrum event.

ArbiVerse

The last stop today is the ArbiVerse event by Arbitrum. It’s in the open-air, surrounded by various air-conditioned rooms. This is where, for example, workshops and an exhibition are going on. The exhibition room has, for instance, Espresso, Plume (RWA), Fhenix, and GMX have booths here.

In the workshop room was a presentation going on about stablecoins on Arbitrum. See the picture below. The general vibe is energetic and positive. I have been asking various people at all events what they expect the $BTC price to be on 1st January 2025.

The general feeling goes towards a minimum of $100,000 or higher. For example, Jay of Aptos. On the other hand, Steve of Dreams Quest sees $BTC at least at $147k. Chris at Copy-pasta sees $BTC at $117k. This gives you an idea of how positive the vibe is.

To sum up, this brings day 2 of Devcon 7 to an end. However, the night is still young. So, it looks like the Bangkok crypto scene is about ready to look up some after-parties. You can see our report of Day 1 here, and here’s our GeckoCon review.
