Here’s Why Sei (SEI) Price Is Up 40%
CryptoCompass editorial visual for markets coverage.

The SEI price is up more than 6% today at $0.07879, extending its weekly gain to about 40%. Trading volume has also climbed by more than 100%, placing SEI among the market’s top five gainers despite weakness across the broader crypto market.

The move comes as traders price in two major catalysts: speculation around a Staked SEI ETF and the upcoming Sei Giga upgrade. Derivatives data is adding to the move, with open interest rising 21.4% to $20.6 million and funding remaining positive.

Capital is also rotating into Layer-1 tokens, giving SEI additional buying pressure. Here is why the SEI price is pumping and where it could go next.

Why Is the SEI Price Pumping?

One of the main catalysts is Canary Capital’s amended S-1 filing for a potential Staked SEI ETF, which has increased speculation around institutional exposure to SEI. At the same time, the upcoming Sei Giga upgrade is targeting much higher network throughput for trading and AI-agent activity, giving traders two major catalysts to price into SEI. The key events to watch are further ETF updates and concrete milestones for the Giga upgrade.

SEI has also benefited from rotation into Layer-1 blockchain tokens, with SEI rising 18.5% in one reported move as peers such as Sui and XDC also posted gains. Derivatives activity has added more fuel, with SEI open interest climbing 21.4% to $20.6 million and the funding rate remaining positive. That combination shows traders are using leveraged positions to bet on further upside, although a reversal in funding or open interest could increase downside pressure.

Sei has also announced a collaboration with Dinari to bring more than 700 tokenized stocks to the Sei network. Dinari’s dShares will be tradable through self-custody wallets using USDC, giving the network a direct connection to tokenized equity markets. The development adds another measurable use case for Sei as traders assess the network’s potential alongside the ETF and Giga upgrade catalysts.

What Is the SEI Chart Showing?

We had a look at the chart, and the Sei price has climbed from around $0.047 on September 20 to a high near $0.085 on September 28, representing an increase of roughly 81% from that local low.

The latest price near $0.08033 has pulled back from the $0.085 area, but the broader hourly structure remains bullish because price is still making higher highs and higher lows. The first resistance is around 0.083–0.085, with a clean break above $0.085 opening the door toward $0.090.

Momentum has cooled after the strong advance. RSI is 58.09, down from the overbought area above 70, showing that buying pressure has eased without entering bearish territory, while the RSI signal line is near 69.48. The Stochastic is 46.58, with its signal at 42.99, meaning the indicator is recovering from lower levels but has not returned to the overbought zone.

The recent candles also show sellers defending the $0.083–$0.085 region, creating the pullback toward $0.080. If the SEI price holds $0.078–$0.079, buyers could attempt another test of $0.083 and $0.085, but losing that area would expose the next support around $0.075, followed by $0.072. The overall chart remains constructive above $0.075, but the declining RSI shows that SEI needs fresh buying volume to extend the rally.

Where Will the SEI Price Go Next?

Bullish path:

If the SEI price holds $0.078–$0.079 and breaks $0.085, the price could target $0.090, with the ETF catalyst, Giga upgrade and strong volume providing potential support for another leg higher.

Neutral path:

If buyers fail to clear $0.085 but defend $0.075, the SEI price could consolidate between $0.075 and $0.085 as traders wait for clearer ETF and upgrade developments.

Bearish path:

A break below $0.075 could send SEI toward $0.072, with a deeper decline potentially bringing $0.068 into view if buying volume continues to weaken.
