InterLink Network is updating its compliance framework to allow minors under 18 to complete know-your-customer (KYC) verification for participation in the network's native $ITLG token. The change, announced by @Inter_Link, lets young users have their accounts verified and own assets in the network with guardian authorization.
The project says the move is meant to broaden the network's reach ahead of planned utility launches on the mainnet.
What is changing for under-18 users
Under the update, minors can have their accounts verified and hold assets on the network, provided a parent or legal guardian authorizes the process. The InterLink app page on InterLink Labs' website carries a message from a Foundation representative saying users under 18 will be able to pass KYC with the support and consent of a parent or legal guardian during the KYC period.
Minors had already been told they could take part in verification. In an earlier clarification, InterLink Labs said users under 18 remained eligible for KYC. It also said those without standard identification such as a national ID card or passport could submit a valid birth certificate instead, according to a post by the project. The new framework adds the guardian authorization element for asset ownership.
KYC is a required step in the project's verification process. Per InterLink's earlier statement, it is a mandatory identity check before users can reach the Verified $ITLG stage.
Why verification matters for $ITLG
InterLink describes itself as a human-verified blockchain. According to the project's website, users complete a facial liveness check to create an encrypted identity, and can then mine $ITLG and submit ID verification to raise mining limits and unlock withdrawals.
$ITLG is the network's genesis token. The InterLink whitepaper FAQ says it is earned through mining by verified humans and governs the InterLink DAO. A second token, $ITL, is described as the core utility and strategic token, aimed at integration with ecosystem partners and institutions.
Verification is also tied to making $ITLG transferable. Project materials cited by KuCoin's news insights say only KYC-verified users will receive transferable $ITLG, and that the foundation has floated building holdings for children through guardian-approved KYC. These details come from project-linked commentary rather than a formal filing, so readers should treat the timeline for any rollout as subject to change.
Admitting minors would widen the pool of eligible holders as the project moves toward mainnet utility. The announcement does not specify launch dates for those features.
