More Than a Governance Token

InterLink is positioning $ITLG as the central mechanism for shaping the network's long-term direction, saying it goes well beyond a standard governance token. According to the project, ITLG holders will have a direct say over protocol upgrades, treasury spending, ecosystem incentives, developer funding, and strategic partnerships as the ecosystem scales.

Holders carry DAO voting power, allowing them to participate in key ecosystem proposals and governance decisions. That structure sits within a broader dual-token model: the design separates community governance (ITLG) from institutional utility (ITL), allowing the ecosystem to scale across both retail and enterprise layers without diluting its economic core.

$ITLG serves as the genesis token, earned exclusively through mining by verified humans, and governs the InterLink DAO. The project also points to future use cases such as enabling a decentralized payment layer across the ecosystem.

A Gradual Shift Toward Community Control

InterLink's long-term vision centers on progressively transferring decision-making authority from the Foundation to the wider community through a decentralized governance model. The project says its goal is to build a system that remains transparent, decentralized, and sustainable for decades.

ITLG holders vote on protocol upgrades, funding proposals, and future development in a bottom-up DAO model. The project's human-first approach also underpins its governance architecture: the Proof of Personhood consensus mechanism ensures only verified humans can participate in mining, governance, and network validation, with the aim of eliminating bot manipulation and fake accounts.

The project also emphasizes deflationary mechanics, including token burns tied to on-chain activity and up to 100 planned halving events, as part of an effort to control supply growth and reward long-term participation over short-term speculation.

The broader ambition is to use verified human participation as the backbone of a governance model that, over time, operates independently of any central authority, with token holders collectively steering the network's evolution.
