Nvidia and FPT Collaborate on $200M AI Plant in Vietnam

Nvidia, a world leader in semiconductor chip manufacturing, and the Vietnamese IT business Nvidia said they will be working together to finance and construct a $200 million artificial intelligence (AI) plant in Vietnam.

Firms said in a joint statement on April 23 that the initiative goal is to establish a “one-stop shop” for all things cloud computing and artificial intelligence in Vietnam. Targets include GPU infrastructure, AI products, IT specialists, and topic knowledge for regional clients.

The AI factory, which will function as a “sovereign cloud,” will be funded by FPT, and Nvidia will provide the newest technology. This will contain Nvidia H100 Tensor Core GPUs and its AI enterprise applications and frameworks.

The statement claims that FPT wants to make Vietnam the “hub of the world for AI” and transform the nation into an AI nation while hastening the adoption of AI applications in nearby nations like Korea and Japan. 

According to Keith Strier, vice president of Nvidia’s Worldwide AI, artificial intelligence (AI) has the power to “improve lives and strengthen the economies of every nation” by driving innovation in a variety of industries, including manufacturing, healthcare, agriculture, and the environment.

The factory will deliver end-to-end generative AI services and cloud GPU services to FPT’s corporate clients to boost the power and speed of AI applications.

Nvidia’s initiatives will also be integrated into training courses, lab spaces, and educational curricula at colleges and high schools around the nation. According to the announcement, the effort will reach at least 30,000 kids over the next year. 

The CEO of Nvidia declared in December 2023 that the business intended to increase its collaborations in Vietnam to draw in local talent for the artificial intelligence sector. In September 2023, billion-dollar US-Vietnam AI deals prioritized semiconductor supply chain collaboration.

The leaders of several significant tech firms involved in artificial intelligence, such as Nvidia, Microsoft, and Google, were present at this gathering.
