Animoca Brands’ subsidiary and gaming division, GAMEE, has secured an investment from California-based venture capital firm Pantera Capital, according to a statement released today, August 21.

Though the funding amount was not revealed, the investment is intended to support GAMEE’s expansion on The Open Network (TON) through WatBird, a Telegram-based app.

The funding is also aimed at expanding GAMEE’s presence across various blockchain networks, marking a significant step in its growth within the blockchain gaming industry.

GAMEE co-founder Bozena Rezab hailed the investment as a “significant vote of confidence” in their mission to integrate web3 mechanics into their gaming experiences, which currently serve a community of 90 million gamers.

This support will help us accelerate our mission to strengthen the community’s engagement with the TON ecosystem.”

Rezab noted.

For Pantera Capital, this investment reflects its continued commitment to The Open Network (TON). Pantera made its “largest investment ever” in TON in May, highlighting its confidence in the network’s potential to bring cryptocurrency to mainstream users, mainly through its integration with Telegram.

Cosmo Jiang, portfolio manager at Pantera, reportedly stated:

“We have been impressed by the traction that GAMEE has found with its Telegram Mini App games and look forward to seeing it expand its presence on TON.”

The press release highlighted that Pantera Capital’s investment follows a recent one from TON Ventures, a venture capital firm dedicated to supporting startups on the TON blockchain.

Meanwhile, as part of its ongoing expansion efforts, the TON Foundation formed a strategic partnership with HashKey Group to make crypto and Web3 wallets more accessible. HashKey Group, a Hong Kong-based firm specializing in financial and digital assets, played a crucial role in supporting these developments within The Open Network (TON) blockchain ecosystem. The partnership is expected to expand fiat on- and off-ramps for Telegram crypto wallet users across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.
