Polkadot has executed the complete on-chain operation of the classic game DOOM. The experiment serves more than entertainment purposes.

Polkadot advances decentralized computing with high speeds, interoperability, and the JAM protocol. Let’s examine it.

Polkadot’s Big Leap

Polkadot’s development began after its 2016 publication, shaping the network. But in 2023/2024, things changed. The team shifted its focus from its core features and developed a faster and more secure network. This upgrade improved both developer and user accessibility.

The results? Massive growth. Since June, Polkadot transactions have jumped 300%, hitting 40 million monthly by November. This profitable platform achieves financial success by serving many applications. It supports gaming development through social media and powers supply-chain development projects.

Mythos Chain’s blockchain gaming assets for NFL Rivals led to one million active wallets and five million users. Polkadot’s gaming partition will expand further with the upcoming release of FIFA Rivals.

What Is On-Chain Doom?

On-Chain Doom is Polkadot’s ability to handle extreme transaction loads while remaining decentralized. They tested the network on the experimental Kusama network during the spamming event. The result? The Polkadot network has achieved more than 143,000 TPS, which remains higher than all competing blockchain systems.

Blockchain networks boost speed but rely on advanced hardware, leading to centralization. Polkadot does it differently. Through horizontal distribution, workload scalability occurs across many nodes. The network protects all users by requiring no technical specs for participation.

Polkadot’s Cross-Chain feature

Interoperability standards, or blockchain communication capabilities, took center stage in 2024. Snowbridge and Hyperbridge enable secure communication between Polkadot, Ethereum, Kusama, and independent chains.

Polkadot implements bridges using trustless protocols that surpass the security issues present in centralized blockchain bridges. The trustless system secures asset transfers between independent blockchains.

The JAM-Powered Future: Running DOOM on Polkadot

Polkadot 3.0 and the JAM protocol elevate decentralized computing. To showcase their capabilities, developers ran DOOM within the blockchain network.

Dr. Gavin Wood showcased Polkadot’s achievements at Fudan University in Shanghai. Developers recompiled the original DOOM game to run on the Polkadot Virtual Machine (PVM) without altering its code.

It isn’t only a demo. Polkadot’s JAM CoreVM handles real-world computing beyond transactions and smart contracts. In other words, it is becoming a decentralized supercomputer.

Conclusion

Polkadot establishes itself as the leading platform for next-generation Web3 computing operations. From record-breaking transaction speeds to running DOOM on-chain, it’s taking the lead.
