Aggregation layer, short for “AggLayer,” is a novel offering from Polygon Labs that aims to bridge the gap between blockchains and zero-knowledge proofs. According to Polygon Labs, the first release of the solution is scheduled for February. It will allow developers to connect blockchains in order to facilitate uniform liquidity.

The goal is to make sure that all chains, whether they are modular or monolithic, and even those in the Polygon ecosystem, have the same level of security. In Polygon 2.0, the next version of the network, AggLayer will play a vital role. It will combine ZK proofs from all linked chains, unlike other interoperability solutions.

Polygon Labs stated:

“As a central component of Polygon 2.0, AggLayer will use ZK proofs to create an aggregated environment that feels like a single chain – even as each chain in the ecosystem remains sovereign.”

Facilitating Communications Across Chains

When it comes to Polygon’s operations, the main focus is on their ZK-Rollup-based sidechain and Layer 2 network, the Polygon zkEVM.

The CDK is a software development kit that is also available. Immutable, Astar, Canto, Palm Network, Aavegotchi, and IDEX are just a few of the Layer 2 networks that have been built utilizing this CDK toolkit. It is believed that the AggLayer would make it easier to integrate all these chains under Polygon 2.0.

Polygon plans to use ZK-Rollups as the foundation for a Layer 2 ecosystem. In order to facilitate communication across chains, Polygon 2.0 will unite several Layer 2 chains that are based on ZK rollups.

Polygon recently drew attention to the blockchain ecosystem’s present disintegration in a post, drawing a negative comparison to the early Internet period.
