Samsung Electronics has launched its latest Galaxy A series smartphones. This series, comprising the Galaxy A56 5G, Galaxy A36 5G, and Galaxy A26 5G, introduces cutting-edge technology to its mid-range lineup.
Unveiled at an event in Lagos, these devices mark a significant milestone in Samsung’s mission to democratize artificial intelligence (AI). This, it hopes to achieve with the debut of “Awesome Intelligence,” a comprehensive mobile AI suite exclusive to the new Galaxy A series. Along with the AI innovations, the smartphones boast enhanced durability, robust security, and advanced camera capabilities, redefining creativity and reliability for users worldwide.
Speaking at the launch, the CEO of Samsung Electronics West Africa, Tae Sun Lee, emphasized the importance of this launch, stating, “The new Galaxy A series marks an important step in our mission of AI for all, by opening Galaxy’s incredible mobile AI experiences to even more people around the world. With these awesome new features and capabilities, we are excited to unlock limitless creativity while ensuring a safe, reliable, and fun mobile experience.”
Powered by One UI 7, Awesome Intelligence introduces a suite of AI-driven tools designed to enhance usability and creativity. A standout feature is the enhanced “Circle to Search,” originally developed with Google, which now allows users to instantly identify phone numbers, email addresses, URLs, and even songs directly from their screens.
Oge Maduagwu, Head of Marketing at Samsung Electronics West Africa, explained, “With a long press of the navigation bar and a tap, users can identify songs playing on social media or nearby speakers without switching apps, making discovery seamless and intuitive.”
The camera systems on the Galaxy A56 5G, A36 5G, and A26 5G elevate mobile photography to new heights. All three models feature a 50MP main lens, while the A56 5G and A36 5G include 10-bit HDR front lens recording for vibrant selfies. The A56 5G stands out with a 12MP ultra-wide lens and introduces “Best Face,” an AI-powered tool that perfects group shots by combining the best expressions of up to five people from motion photos.
Nightography enhancements, including Low Noise Mode on the A56 5G’s 12MP selfie camera, ensure stunning low-light captures.
Stephen Okwara, Head of Product Management, MX Division, highlighted the refined “Object Eraser,” available across the lineup, which lets users remove unwanted elements from photos effortlessly.
Performance-wise, the Galaxy A56 5G is equipped with the Exynos 1580 chipset, while the A36 5G features the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 Mobile Platform. Both models include larger vapour chambers for sustained performance during gaming and multitasking. A 5,000mAh battery powers all three devices, with the A56 5G and A36 5G supporting 45W Super Fast Charge 2.0 for rapid recharging.
Durability and longevity are also key focuses. For the first time, the Galaxy A26 5G joins the A36 5G and A56 5G with an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance. An advanced Corning Glass cover enhances scratch and crack protection across the series. Samsung promises up to six generations of Android OS and One UI upgrades, along with six years of security updates, ensuring these devices remain future-proof.
Security is fortified with Samsung Knox Vault, offering a tamper-resistant environment for sensitive data. One UI 7 introduces Theft Detection and enhanced privacy settings, providing users with comprehensive protection and transparency.
The Galaxy A56 5G, A36 5G, and A26 5G blend affordability with premium features, positioning them as game-changers in the mid-range market. With Awesome Intelligence, advanced cameras, and robust build quality, Samsung continues to push boundaries, making cutting-edge technology accessible to a broader audience.
