South Korea’s leading cryptocurrency exchange Upbit announced today that it will end trading support for Hifi Finance (HIFI) on May 12, 2025, citing unresolved concerns regarding transparency and sustainability of the project.

Upbit to Delist Hifi Finance (HIFI) on May 12 Following Investment Warning

The decision comes after HIFI was placed on investment alert status on March 28, 2025, due to a number of red flags identified through Upbit’s Best Practices for Digital Asset Trading Support.

According to the official notice, HIFI trading will end at 17:00 on May 12, 2025. The affected trading pairs are:

  • HIFI/KRW
  • HIFI/BTC

All pending buy and sell orders will be automatically canceled upon termination. Upbit also confirmed that as of the announcement date, HIFI-related services such as airdrops, wallet upgrades, and hard forks will no longer be supported.

Reasons Behind Delisting

Upbit cited several concerns that led to the delisting decision:

  • Unilateral changes to critical project issues without adequate explanation.
  • Changes to the total issuance volume and distribution plans of the token.
  • Changes in business strategies that lack transparency or clear communication.
  • General doubts regarding the reality and sustainability of the project.

Despite offering Hifi Finance the opportunity to address these issues, Upbit concluded that the project failed to address the concerns raised. As a result, the exchange has chosen to delist the token in line with its trading support termination policy.

While trading support will end on May 12, users will be able to withdraw their HIFI tokens until June 12, 2025. Upbit has advised users to complete their withdrawals within this period to avoid complications.

After the withdrawal deadline, it may take a significant amount of time for HIFI tokens deposited by mistake to be recovered due to technical limitations.
