Warpcast, a social media platform powered by the decentralized Web3 protocol Farcaster, is set to transform how users interact with its ecosystem.

Founder Dan Romero announced an upgraded version of Frames. This tool enables full-screen applications within the platform, which previously led to a 400% increase in user engagement within a week.

Specifications for Frames v2 will be revealed on November 26. The new version aims to enhance interactive social applications, onchain transactions, and personalized notifications, offering significant improvements over the previous version, which faced performance limitations.

Frames v2 addresses the limitations of Frames v1, including slow image rendering and limited interactivity. It provides a robust framework for developers to create browser-based apps with features like seamless interaction and onchain transaction requests using a dedicated SDK.

“We’ve significantly improved reliability and speed for transactions and signed messages on mobile using Mobile Wallet Protocol and Rainbow,”

Romero shared, alongside a preview for developers.

The upgraded Frames specification is set to launch on November 27, with additional enhancements scheduled for December 6. A detailed roadmap on GitHub indicates that a stable release is anticipated in January or February 2024.

Despite its innovative features, Farcaster has experienced a decrease in user activity, with daily active users declining by 28% over the past six months, according to Dune Analytics. Currently, the protocol has 710,000 users and an average of 500,000 daily casts.

Meanwhile, ConsenSys’ blockchain infrastructure protocol, Infura, has announced a significant enhancement to its Decentralized Infrastructure Network (DIN) by partnering with Ethereum’s EigenLayer restaking protocol. DIN, often referred to as a decentralized “app store” for blockchain APIs, allows developers to access various networks, including Ethereum, Mantle, and Starknet. This collaboration utilizes EigenLayer’s Actively Validated Service (AVS) framework to broaden the decentralized marketplace for blockchain infrastructure and provide developers with a secure entry point without requiring token launches or separate staking models.
