Gaming isn’t just for fun anymore; it’s big business. Many traditional investors and gaming studios are throwing their weight behind Web3 gaming projects. With the bull market coming soon, we’ve identified three good gaming projects worth keeping tabs on.
Illuvium is one of the first fully decentralized AAA games. We like the game for its gameplay and storyline. The game is set in an open-world landscape. The gameplay involves players hunting and capturing creatures called Illuvials, each with unique traits and abilities.
But Illuvium isn’t just another fantasy game. It started on the Ethereum blockchain. But then, like many games, it made a move to something faster. Now, you get free gas fees and better gameplay since its migration to ImmutableX. Illuvium also has a strong community and a team of industry veterans behind it. So, we expect a lot of intriguing updates from them.
Interestingly, the team launched three new sci-fi fantasy games on the Epic Games Store last month. They tagged this launch as the “official game launch,” coming after several beta rounds. These games—Illuvium: Overworld, Arena, and Zero—are built natively on the Immutable X network. The games are different but interconnected. The whole idea is for players to explore all three worlds.
In the first, Illuvium: Overworld, players are in a survival mode. The goal is to get as many resources as possible to fix a stranded ship. Along the way, they’ll meet Illuvials, the mythical creatures we talked about earlier. The video below gives you a good idea of the impressive graphics of Illuvials.
Now, once a player captures some Illuvials, they can then take them to Illuvium: Arena. Here’s where the battles happen. A player’s Illuvials fight with other players or AI at the arena.
The final game Illuvium: Zero is a city-builder game. The game is available for mobile, PC, and Mac. Here, players focus on developing lands and getting as many resources as possible. The goal is to boost the economy to reconnect with the wrecked ship in Overworld. All these games are interconnected and form a larger circle.
We’ve talked about Creta World a couple of times. We like their ambition and plans to build a gaming ecosystem. Creta World isn’t just a single game. They go beyond that. Think of them like a gaming studio. They offer thrilling games such as Fortress 4 and Kingdom Under Fire. The best part of Creta World is that they allow anyone to create their own game without needing any advanced knowledge.
Creta World has been on our radar for a while, and we see it as the next Sandbox. Why?
Creta’s ecosystem has four major pillars:
A huge appeal of Creta World is their Creta Nexus program. The program helps game developers access funds from interested investors. So, Creta has something for game players and developers. We recently held an AMA with Ray where he shared some of their upcoming plans. You can catch up with the chat here and find out what they are up to.
MetalCore is the game to watch if action-packed, large-scale battles are your thing. The graphics are pretty smooth. MetalCore is a sci-fi MMO with massive mechs and intense PvP battles. The game is set in a dystopian future where players fight for control of a resource-rich planet. MetalCore combines some of the traditional gaming elements with blockchain technology. Players can own, trade, and sell in-game assets. So, the game is both enjoyable and profitable.
Players begin their journey as foot soldiers and work their way up, building a powerful arsenal of mechs and war machines. MetalCore will launch on PC via the Epic Game Store later this year. It will also be the first game built on the Immutable zkEVM.
Why else do we like it? The team is pretty much experienced. Some of the developers have experience at gaming giants like Activision, Lucasfilm, Midway, and Phosphor. They are building a strong community of gamers. On X alone, they’ve got around 215k followers. We feel strongly about projects with experienced teams and active communities. MetalCore has both. So, we are keeping tabs on how it progresses.
