XRP Open Interest Hits 2-Month High as XRPL Activity Explodes 280%
XRP is seeing a surge in activity across both derivatives and the XRP Ledger, even as its price hovers near the critical $1 mark.
According to CryptoQuant data, XRP open interest on Binance has climbed to a two-month high, pointing to increased participation in the derivatives market. Open interest measures the value of outstanding futures and perpetual contracts, meaning the rise suggests more traders are taking positions in XRP.
CryptoQuant said the increase reflects stronger participation and speculation, making the next major price move more significant. Still, rising open interest alone is not a bullish signal. If OI rises alongside price, it can indicate fresh positions backing an advance. If price falls while OI climbs, it could point to heavier bearish positioning or increased leverage.
Why does this distinction matter? Well, XRP is trading at $1.01 after briefly falling below the psychological level, according to CoinCodex data. A sustained break below $1 could trigger further selling and liquidations, while reclaiming the level could improve market sentiment.
XRP Ledger Activity Surges as Large Transfers, RLUSD and AI Payments Gain Momentum
On-chain activity is also picking up. Market analyst MrCauliman has acknowledged that transactions worth more than $1 million jumped 280% over the past 24 hours, with more than 38 large transfers recorded. Active addresses climbed to 49,929, their highest level in more than two months.
On the other hand, broader XRPL activity remains strong, with recent daily figures showing roughly 885,000 to 1.15 million transactions and about 340,000 to 440,000 successful payments. DEX activity has also reached approximately 60,000 to 116,000 trades over 24 hours.
Stablecoin growth is adding further liquidity to the ecosystem. RLUSD's circulating supply has reportedly reached about $1.76 billion, up roughly 15% in 30 days, with around $883 million on XRPL and $874 million on Ethereum.
Real-world-asset activity is expanding as well. About $485 million in distributed RWA value is reportedly tracked on XRPL, while the number of RWA holders has increased roughly 28% over the past month.
XRP is also gaining utility as a native bridge asset across the XRPL ecosystem, including AI-agent payments. More than 2 million AI-agent payments underscore the network's ability to facilitate fast, low-cost settlement.
What do these figures show? Well, an increasingly active XRP ecosystem beneath the surface. Rising open interest, large-value transfers, nearly 50,000 active addresses, growing RLUSD liquidity and expanding XRPL use are all worth watching.
Nevertheless, the bigger question is whether this activity will translate into sustained demand for XRP itself. For now, $1 remains the key level, while elevated leverage could make the next decisive move more volatile in either direction.
