The Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy (FMCIDE) has announced plans to connect thousands of young Nigerians with major employers through its new 3MTT–NJFP Placement Initiative. This is a strategic move designed to connect its vast pool of newly-skilled digital talents with job opportunities across the country at no cost to employers.

The ministry will provide businesses with access to vetted, pre-screened digital talent trained under the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme through its portal.

According to a statement made available to Technext, the initiative under the leadership of Dr Bosun Tijani, the Honourable Minister of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy, is supported by the European Union (EU), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme (NJFP).

Participating organisations will also benefit from top-tier fellows across key digital roles, including software development, product design, data analysis, and digital marketing, without incurring recruitment or onboarding costs.

“This partnership is a key step in connecting Nigeria’s growing digital talent base with meaningful employment. Through the 3MTT–NJFP Placement Initiative, we are bridging the gap between skilled Nigerians and the organisations that need their expertise to grow and compete globally,” Dr Tijani said.

What the 3MTT-NJFP will offer

According to FMCIDE, the core aim of the new initiative is to provide easy access to vetted and certified talent as well as a seamless onboarding process for interested businesses. The statement added that employers from major organisations like Microsoft and Airtel are already engaging with the fellows, validating the quality of the talent pool.

For employers, participation is straightforward. They are only required to complete a brief interest form online and fill out the NJFP Expression of Interest (EOI) form. Following submission, organisations can undergo a vetting and approval process before gaining access to the skilled graduates.

“Beyond accessing top-tier talent, participating organisations will gain significant value, including a Federal Government partnership badge which doesn’t just enhance organisational credibility but also strengthens their position for future grant and partnership applications,” FMCIDE said.

It added that the initiative is open to a wide range of organisations actively contributing to Nigeria’s digital transformation. Eligible entities include Corporations, SMEs, startups, and innovation hubs, particularly those that are digitally-enabled and seeking skilled professionals in tech and related roles.

“We’re proud to work alongside our international partners and forward-thinking employers to create a pathway for talent to thrive. This is about building the future of work — together,” Francis Sani, Programme Director, 3MTT Nigeria said.

Organisations interested in participating can sign up today through the official 3MTT–NJFP Placement portal.
