Binance’s BNB has emerged as one of the most lucrative investments of the last half-decade. According to a new report from the trading firm Atmos, BNB recorded an extraordinary 2,065% growth between 2020 and 2025, making it the second-best-performing investment worldwide over that period.

The Atmos study compared the five-year price performances of leading cryptocurrencies, technology giants, defence stocks, gold, and real estate to determine which assets delivered the highest returns.

Only Solana, another fast-rising blockchain network, outperformed Binance’s BNB, soaring an astonishing 4,166% over the same period.

In 2020, Binance Coin traded at just $39.48. By 2025, its price had climbed to $854.91, reflecting the growing influence of the Binance ecosystem and the wider crypto market.

While the token experienced notable volatility, peaking at $690 in 2021 before undergoing a correction, it managed to recover and reach new highs, reinforcing its reputation as one of the most resilient and high-performing digital assets.

The report positions BNB ahead of major cryptocurrencies such as Ethereum and Bitcoin, which grew 605% and 284%, respectively, over the same period.

Ethereum’s price rose from $621 in 2020 to around $4,380 about a month ago, while Bitcoin’s climbed from $28,949 to $126,000. Despite Bitcoin’s dominance in market capitalisation, Binance Coin’s percentage growth highlights how alternative blockchain assets have captured investors’ attention.

Beyond cryptocurrencies, traditional tech and defence stocks also performed strongly, but not nearly at the same level.

Meta’s stock price increased by 170%, while Microsoft grew by 134%. Defence manufacturers like BAE Systems and Kratos Defence posted similar gains, reflecting heightened global military spending. Yet these returns pale in comparison to the exponential rise of BNB and Solana, which have outperformed nearly every traditional investment category.

BNB’s success can be traced to the expanding utility of the Binance Smart Chain (now known as BNB Chain), which powers a wide range of decentralised finance (DeFi) projects, token launches, and blockchain-based applications.

Its deflationary tokenomics, where Binance regularly burns a portion of the BNB supply, have also contributed to sustained price appreciation by creating scarcity.

Nick Cooke, CEO of Atmos, attributes such explosive growth to the democratisation of investing:

“The democratisation of investing through online platforms and apps has brought millions of new participants into markets. Today’s young savers are starting in their twenties instead of their forties, giving them much longer wealth-building horizons. They’re also much more willing to include cryptocurrencies alongside stocks in their portfolios. While cryptocurrencies show greater fluctuations, younger investors have time on their side to ride out these swings and potentially benefit from higher long-term returns.”

BNB’s performance underscores a key shift in modern investing: traditional blue-chip stocks are no longer the only path to wealth creation. As blockchain networks mature and crypto adoption broadens, tokens like the Binance Coin are transforming speculative bets to core portfolio assets.
