Nigerian subscribers can now get Google AI Plus at the cost of $5 per month (approximately ₦7,450). This package comes with the benefits of accessing Gemini 2.5 Pro, AI video and image tools, advanced NotebookLM, and 200GB of cloud storage.
The subscription also grants access to Gemini 2.5 Pro and other software tools like Flow, Whisk, and Veo 3 Fast. NotebookLM subscribers are granted extra features, and Gmail, Docs, and Sheets subscribers get AI tools they can integrate with their workflows. Members get 200GB of cloud storage they can use securely to store AI project data.
Google launched AI Plus in Indonesia for Rp 75,000 (which is roughly $4.50 per month). But now the plan has been extended to more than 40 countries, with the addition of Angola, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, Indonesia, Kenya, Mexico, Nepal, Philippines, Senegal, Uganda, Vietnam, and Zimbabwe. In these other countries, the price varies at around $5 and has a half-rate promotion of six months in Nepal and Mexico.
Google Gemini merges powerful, multimodal AI models with a user-friendly chatbot for accessible advanced AI on devices. The models process text, images, audio, video, and code for comprehensive understanding. They vary in size: Gemini Nano suits mobile, Gemini Pro balances performance for daily tasks, and Gemini Ultra tackles complex tasks like coding and advanced reasoning.
The Gemini chatbot, unveiled in February of 2024 as the replacement of Bard, helps with writing and brainstorming. It also supports learning and summarisation, and creates images, as well as Q&A. It integrates with Google applications like Search and Gmail and Docs and Chrome, and Maps and replaces Google Assistant on the majority of Android phones. Gemini AI models and chatbots introduce Nigerian subscribers to intelligent workflows and improved content creation.

The plan provides Nigerian subscribers with access to Google’s AI ecosystem with AI content creation capabilities, task automation, and research tools for projects. Integration with Gmail, Docs, Sheets, and cloud storage helps with seamless workflows, while 200GB of storage accommodates data and multimedia.
The plan allows innovative applications, enabling users to produce AI images and videos, while enhanced NotebookLM functionalities assist research and note-taking. Gemini 2.5 Pro also supports advanced language processing for the creation of content, summarisation of information, interpretation of data, and making of business decisions. Members, therefore, receive an adaptable AI suite to improve productivity and imagination across a wide spectrum.
The budget-friendly tier suggests Google’s sensitivity to developing countries, where $20 subscriptions could be expensive. The launch covers countries from Africa, Asia, and Latin America and will begin with Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Senegal, and Egypt.
The program supports individual and organisational users. Startups deploy innovative research and creative tools, while companies and learning institutions integrate AI into workflows and utilise AI-driven research and innovative tools. AI-based content creation and productivity features of cloud storage drive innovation in local digital economies.
Lower-priced AI Plus subscriptions bring more people in high-priced areas closer. Accessible cost encourages the adoption and use of AI tools through Google.
The launch comes amid increasing competition around AI subscriptions. OpenAI’s ChatGPT Go now has a $5 offering in Indonesia and $20-tier premium options. Less expensive plans enable more customers to embrace AI as a business solution, educational aid, and home solution.
Google’s launch highlights the usability of day-to-day tasks. AI Plus works with existing productivity software and has resources at one’s disposal for images, videos, and research. Cloud storage secures and makes outputs available for business, creators, and learning.
In Nigeria, the AI Plus plan provides affordable access to high-level AI tools. It has no limitations of a premium plan since the AI Plus enables one to produce content, research, and integrate AI into workflows. Google lowers the subscription fee to target emerging markets and boost AI adoption. The rollout spans over 40 countries, making AI tools accessible in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, while fostering innovation in digital ecosystems where cost was a barrier.
